Program description

Osler Education’s Diploma of Aesthetic Medicine program provides individuals a comprehensive and well-rounded education in the field of aesthetic medicine. The program will help you acquire both basic and advanced level knowledge of aesthetic medicine fundamentals and treatment options in neuromodulators, dermal filler injectables, micro needling and platelet rich plasma. Our experienced instructors will provide you with both conceptual and practical training in non-invasive cosmetic treatments techniques. This program is strategically built for healthcare professionals who would like to get into or enhance their skills in the field of aesthetic medicine.

Introduction to Aesthetic Medicine

Students will learn the basics of aesthetic medicine and applications of aesthetic medicine in a primary care setting. The course will also educate students on how to approach patients who are seeking aesthetic treatments, and how to identify and assess facial concerns.

The Basics of Skincare

Students will get to focus on the basic principles of skincare, skin treatments & procedures. Students will learn how to assess each patients concerns and determine the appropriate treatments needed to achieve patients desired results.

Facial Anatomy

This course will focus on giving students an in-depth understanding of the facial anatomy and its importance, and how it will help practitioners administer injections in a safe and precise manner. There will also be a detailed focus on understanding the musculature of the face and neck, an important practice in aesthetic medicine.

Introduction to Neurotoxin Injectables

This course will teach the basics of Botox injectables, techniques for administration, dilution ratios, landmarking, facial anatomy, musculature, and cosmetic injectables best practices.

Introduction to Dermal Filler Injectables

This course will teach the basics of dermal filler injectables, techniques for administration, guidelines, facial anatomy, landmarking, cosmetic injectables best practices and safety guidelines.

History & Science of Injectables

This course will cover the history of Botox and dermal fillers, cosmetic and non- cosmetic uses of Botox, various botulinum toxin and dermal filler brands available in the market, and precautions to follow while administering injectables. Students will also learn the proper approach of administering injections, skin target points, facial symmetry, and possible complications of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers.

Micro needling

This course will introduce students to the uses and techniques of micro needling in aesthetic medicine. Students will learn treatment techniques with a micro needling device, post treatment protocols, side-effects and contraindications, aftercare, and health & safety tips.

Platelet Rich Plasma

This course will introduce students to the properties of platelet rich plasma (PRP), the various uses for PRP on the skin for anti-aging as well as the scalp for hair loss. Techniques involved in various treatment, how PRP should be applied based on patient concerns, post treatment protocols, side-effects and contraindications as well as aftercare and health & safety tips.

Workshops

Students will go through hands-on training sessions with our aesthetic trainers, by using actual products on live models. These workshops will help students gain experience in injecting patient models with Botox, dermal fillers, micro needling & platelet rich plasma.

The objective of the Aesthetic Medicine program is to provide the required learning opportunities for healthcare professionals to acquire the skillset and knowledge in practicing aesthetic medicine in specialized settings. Students will gain advance skills in injectables including Botox and dermal fillers as well as treatments with micro needling and platelet rich plasma. This program facilitates pathway for students to complete the accelerated diploma program and successfully begin their career in aesthetic medicine.

The Diploma of Aesthetic Medicine is a 40-hour short course. All required course materials will be provided by instructors. The programs courses will be taught lecture style and the workshop will be hands on training on live patients. It is recommended that notes are taken during the lectures and the instructors will suggest recommended reading but textbooks are not required.
